Bethel was the winner of the Sac-Joaquin Section girls wrestling invitational, outpointing second place Hogan 183.5-118.5. Bethel, Hogan and third place Edison all had three individual winners. For the complete results, click here.

TEAM DUALS CHAMPIONS CROWNED (posted 2-8-10)
Three teams were repeat winners, and one was a first-time champion, in the wrestling team duals competition held on Saturday, February 6 at Rosemont High School.
The divisional champions are:
Division I — Vacaville
Division II — Ponderosa
Division III — Bella Vista
Division IV — Oakdale
Division V — Central Catholic

SECTION'S RESPONSE REGARDING REMI BARRY ELIGIBILITY (posted 1-28-10)
The Sac-Joaquin Section has released a statement in response to the lawsuit filed on behalf of Del Oro High student Remi Barry, a basketball player who has been determined to be ineligible to play due to eligibility violations. Click here to read the statement.

SPRING SPORTS DEAD PERIOD (posted 1-19-10)
The spring sports dead period begins on Wednesday, January 20 and will continue until the first day of spring practice, February 10.
According to SJS Bylaw 511.6, "Any member of the coaching staff (paid or volunteer) may not have any contact with his/her athletes and use the sports equipment for their given sport from January 20 until the first day of spring sports practice – Wednesday, February 10. Weight training and conditioning are the only activities that will be allowed during this time period.
NOTE: The use of outside agencies will not be allowed to circumvent the "dead period."
Important Spring Sports Dates:
First day of practice – February 10
First scrimmage – February 15
First contest – February 20


BASKETBALL FORMATS (posted 1-19-10)
The formats for both boys basketball and girls basketball have been posted. Playoffs begin on February 23 and end with the finals at Arco Arena on March 5 and 6.


WRESTLING TEAM DUALS (posted 1-19-10)
The team duals format for wrestling (all five divisions) has been posted. Duals in Divisions I-V will take place on Saturday, February 6 at Rosemont H.S.

THINGS TO REMEMBER (posted 9-9-09)
Transfer Eligibility Paperwork: The new school administration should verify that all paperwork is complete before mailing it to the Section office. Only Form 206 should be faxed to the Section office (do not send the original in the mail also); all other transfer eligibility paperwork must be mailed. It is suggested that a photocopy is kept on file by your school.
Games Wanted Postings: These requests must be submitted by an Athletic Director or a Head Coach only. Please remember to submit a Game Filled form once your game/tournament is filled, to keep the listings as current as possible.
Job Opening Postings: This service is provided to Sac-Joaquin Section member schools only and must be for the positon of an Athletic Director or a Head Varsity Coach.

NCGA MEMBERSHIP (posted 8-12-09)
The Northern California Golf Association, in conjunction with the California Interscholastic Federation, has created a program that will provide FREE membership in the NCGA to all members of high school golf teams and one coach per team. For more information on this program and instructions on how to become a member, click here.


NEW SAC-JOAQUIN SECTION NEWS AGGREGATOR (posted 8-11-09)
The Sac-Joaquin Section has launched a news aggregator web site that will help you keep in touch with high school sports news across the Central Valley. The aggregator includes daily updates to stories from across the region, as well as links to newspapers, web sites and blogs devoted to Sac-Joaquin Section athletics.

TRANSFER ELIGIBILITY PAPERWORK (posted 6-12-09)
Beginning with the 2009-10 school year, ALL transfer students will have to submit transfer eligibility paperwork and be approved by the Section office BEFORE competing. If a student is not an incoming freshman and was not at your school for the past 12 calendar months, paperwork will be required.
Valid change of residence
If a student makes a valid change of residence (or is a foster student) and changes schools, that student must complete the new Form 206. Click here for a copy of this form. The 510 Form is not necessary in this situation.
Once completed, the form may be faxed to the Section office for approval. These approvals will be posted on the web site, same as all other transfers.
All other transfers
The current 207 and 510 forms are still necessary for all other transfers.
