BASKETBALL RELEASE DATES (posted on January 23)
League Strengths for basketball (boys and girls) will be posted on Wednesday, January 25.
Power Ratings will be released on three consecutive weeks beginning with Monday, January 30. The second power rating will be released on February 6 and the third one on February 13.
Brackets will be posted on the afternoon of Sunday, February 19.

BASKETBALL FORMATS (posted on January 23)
The formats have been posted on both the boys basketball and girls basketball pages. Playoffs begin on February 21 and end with the finals at Power Balance Pavilion on March 2 and 3.
WRESTLING FORMATS (posted on January 23)
The formats for divisional wrestling (Divisions I North, I South, II, III, IV and V) have been posted on the Wrestling page. The format for Masters Wrestling will be posted on January 27. Divisionals will take place on February 17 and 18 while the Masters is set for February 23 and 24 at Stockton Arena.

SPECIAL BOARD OF MANAGERS MEETING SCHEDULED (posted on January 23)
A special Board of Managers meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Section office in Lodi (map). The agenda for the meeting has been posted on our Web site. All information regarding the Board of Managers meetings can be found on the Meetings page in the GOVERNANCE menu option above.

SPRING SPORTS DEAD PERIOD (posted on January 9)
The spring sports dead period begins on Monday, January 16 and will continue until the first day of spring practice, February 6. According to SJS Bylaw 511.6, "During a Sac-Joaquin Section dead period, no member of the coaching staff (paid or volunteer) may have any contact with his/her athletes and use the sports equipment for their given sport. Weight training and conditioning are the only activities that will be allowed during those time periods. Coaches may be present during weight training and conditioning.
NOTE: The use of outside agencies is not allowed to circumvent the "dead period."

BASEBALL UMPIRES NEEDED FOR UPCOMING SEASON (posted on January 4)
Northern California Officials Assn. (NCOA) is currently accepting applications and will continue doing so through 1/31/12. The Sacramento NCOA provides umpires for games played at nearly 100 north section area high schools (roughly bounded by Benicia, Nevada City, Placerville and Galt).

The Sac-Joaquin Section is pleased to announce that the Downey football team has won the fall honors for the inaugural Community Service Award. KAP7 IS NEW OFFICIAL WATER POLO BALL (posted on December 14)
KAP7 is the new official water polo ball for the Sac-Joaquin Section water polo postseason tournament. For more details on this five-year partnership, click here to view the press release.
MODEL COACH AWARD WINNERS (posted on December 14)
The Sac-Joaquin Section is pleased to announce its six Model Coach winners for the 2011-12 school year. They are: Diane Heine (Christian Brothers), Michael Papadopoulos (Vacaville), Kelly Rhoden (Nevada Union), Roddy Svendsen (Atwater), Michael Takayama (Del Oro) and Janice Williams (Galt). Svendsen and Williams will be honored at a state championship event. All six coaches will receive Section lifetime passes. For the full press release, please click here.

SAC-JOAQUIN SECTION COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD (posted on September 21)
The Sac-Joaquin Section is pleased to announce the creation of the Community Service Award. This award is given to one team from across the Section for each season for a total of three per school year. Teams will be honored with a banner and $500 check at one of the Section's Board of Managers meetings for completing service projects from within their community. THINGS TO REMEMBER (posted on July 1)
Transfer Eligibility Paperwork: The new school administration should verify that all paperwork is complete before mailing it to the Section office. Only Form 206 should be faxed to the Section office (do not send the original in the mail also); all other transfer eligibility paperwork must be mailed. It is suggested that a photocopy is kept on file by your school.
Games Wanted Postings: These requests must be submitted by an Athletic Director or a Head Coach only. Please remember to submit a Game Filled form once your game/tournament is filled, to keep the listings as current as possible.
Job Opening Postings: This service is provided to Sac-Joaquin Section member schools only and must be for the positon of an Athletic Director or a Head Varsity Coach.
